Each charter school in North Carolina is open to any student who lives in the state. According to NC Law, applicants must live in North Carolina at the time of application. PSPA is a public school that does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, creed, or gender.

Yes, you must apply EVERY SCHOOL YEAR for the specific grade that your student will be in.

Yes. In order to stay true to our charter, we must limit our class sizes.   For the 2022-2023 school year, Kindergarten-5th Grade will have 125 students with 5 sections (classes) for each grade.  6th-8th grade will enroll 125 students for each grade.

Priority enrollment for the public lottery ends on January 30, 2022, at 9:59 pm. All applications received after 9:59 p.m. on January 30th, 20202 will be time-stamped and added, in time-stamped order, to the wait-list for the selected grade and will not be chosen by random selection in the lottery.

The date is February 24th, 2022 at 9:00 AM.  You need not be present to accept your child’s seat if they receive one.  We will email everyone that participated in the lottery if they received a seat or if they were waitlisted by 3:30 PM.

To apply to kindergarten, students must be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2022.

No, Pine Springs Prep is a tuition-free public charter school.  We receive federal, state, and local money for our students just like any other public school in this state.

Priority enrollment will start in December and ends on January 30, 2022, at 9:59 pm, this is also known as the public enrollment period. Once the priority enrollment period closes (1/30/2022 at 9:59 p.m.), all of the applications received by then will be counted and organized by grade. All of those applications are subject to the lottery if oversubscribed.

You will be notified if your application is going to the lottery. We will hold the lottery publicly for anyone that wishes to attend. All applications received after 9:59 p.m. on January 30, 2022, will be time-stamped and added, in time-stamped order, to the wait-list for the selected grade and will not be chosen by random selection in the lottery. Pine Springs Prep would need to exhaust all of our priority enrollment applicants before moving on to children on the time-stamped waitlist.

5 Business Days (to accept your seat and turn in your paperwork), and that’s a hard cut-off as we have to move on to other families. If we do not hear from you, your child’s seat will be forfeited. Effective July 1st the deadline to accept a seat is 48 hours, and effective August 1st the deadline is 1 calendar day.

No. With the exception of immunization records and health assessments, enrollment packets must be turned in in their entirety or we will not accept them. Health assessments and immunization records need to be current and turned in before the start of school in August. Please make sure your child is up to date on their immunizations.

No, the only children that have priority are children of full-time PSPA staff and siblings of currently enrolled Pine Springs students.
